Frequently Asked Questions – MOJO Network

Getting Started with MOJO Network

Find answers to common questions about setting up and running your news portal.

MOJO Network is a state of the art digital news portal software platform through which a journalist can launch and run his or her own news portal. It is India's first AI-driven SaaS platform built specifically for local journalists and media entrepreneurs. You bring the stories, MOJO Network provides the technology, distribution and advertising support.

MOJO Network is designed for anyone who reports local news and wants an identity of their own:

  • Working journalists and stringers who report under someone else's masthead
  • District and tehsil level reporters who want their own portal
  • Local media entrepreneurs running WhatsApp or Facebook news pages
  • Small newspaper and cable news owners who want a digital arm
  • Content creators covering a town, community or beat
Not at all. MOJO Network does not stop you from posting on Facebook, YouTube or anywhere else. It only changes the order. Publish on your own platform first, then push the same story out to every social channel, which MOJO Network automates for you. The reason for that order is ownership. On social media the reach depends on their algorithm, the audience data stays with them, and the page can be restricted overnight. When the story sits on your own portal first, you own the audience, you own the analytics that advertisers pay for, and social media becomes a distribution arm of your brand rather than being your entire business.
Software as a Service. You do not buy servers, hire developers or maintain a website. You subscribe, and the complete newsroom technology is delivered ready to use. Updates, hosting, security and new features come to you automatically.
No. You can start immediately as an individual. If and when you want formal registrations and government recognition, MOJO Network guides you through the process and the required compliances.
No. On Standard plan you write and publish from the portal dashboard on a laptop or desktop, the same way you would use any website. From Advance Plan onwards you also get the MOJO Uploader App, which turns your reporters' phones into filing devices for shooting, writing and uploading from the field. Either way there is no need for a technical team, because your account manager and centralised studio support handle the backend.
MOJO Network hosts thousands of news portals across the country. That scale is the reason advertisers prefer MOJO Network over dealing with individual portals one by one.
You can start your news portal instantly. The guided setup takes you from sign up to a live channel in a few minutes: verify your phone number, name your channel, choose your domain, create your brand identity, pick a colour theme and layout, select your news categories, preview and launch.
Yes, your portal runs on your own domain and carries your own brand. Your account manager handles domain mapping, DNS configuration, SSL certificate and server integration. Confirm the domain options on your plan with your account manager at the time of setup.
You do. The masthead is yours, the content is yours, the audience is yours. MOJO Network is the technology and monetisation partner, not the publisher. Ownership terms are set out in the SaaS Service Agreement on our website.
Yes. Branding, colour theme, layout template and news categories can be changed from the dashboard. Your account manager will help with anything that needs backend intervention.
Yes. Your account manager will assess your existing site and plan the move: pointing your domain at MOJO Network, setting up SSL, rebuilding your categories and branding, and bringing across your published content and archive. Share your current site with your account manager before you subscribe and he will tell you exactly what can be carried over, what it involves and whether any charge applies on your plan.
Yes. Many operators run separate portals for different districts or languages. Each portal is a separate subscription. Talk to your account manager for multi-portal arrangements.
Your content remains yours. On exit your account manager assists with an export of your published content and a clean handover of your domain, in line with the SaaS Service Agreement.

News publishing is unlimited on every plan. On Standard plan you publish from the portal dashboard on a laptop or desktop. From Advance Plan onwards you also get the MOJO Uploader App, which lets your reporters shoot, write and file directly from their phones without going near a computer. You can publish the full range of hyperlocal formats:

  • News articles and soft stories
  • Video and audio bulletins
  • Reels and short videos
  • Photo stories and image galleries
  • Live and breaking updates
The Content Engine keeps your portal alive even on days when you cannot file a story yourself. Pull News lets you draw from authorised RSS feeds so that national, state, sports, business and entertainment sections stay updated automatically, while you concentrate on the local reporting that only you can do. The feed library depends on your plan: state feeds on Standard plan, national and international from Advance Plan, and the full feed library on Premium Plan. The feeds are cleared sources supplied through MOJO Network, so you are never pulling content you have no right to publish.
No, provided you use the feeds MOJO Network supplies. MOJO Network routes only legally cleared, authorised sources, so content pulled through Pull News carries the right to publish with it. Your portal is not exposed to copyright claims for content it did not commission. What you must not do is lift stories or photographs from other publications yourself and publish them as your own, which is outside the feeds and outside your protection. See the Content Responsibility and Licensing Policy.
AI news bulletins are allowed per month: 5 on Standard Plan, 40 on Advance Plan, 150 on Premium Plan and unlimited on Custom Plan. Soft story reels carry the same monthly allowances. A bulletin is a packaged round up assembled by AI from the stories you have published, so it costs you almost no extra effort once your reporting is on the portal.
Sub-reporter logins by plan: 3 on Standard Plan, 30 on Advance Plan, 200 on Premium Plan and unlimited on Custom Plan. Each reporter gets their own login, so you can see who filed what. Reporter numbers are usually the first reason a growing portal upgrades, because the moment you cover more than one block or tehsil, three logins stop being enough.
You do. As the publisher, you decide how your newsroom works, including whether a story is checked by you before it goes live or whether a trusted reporter publishes directly. MOJO Network does not edit, review or approve stories, and does not impose a workflow on you. What follows from that is simple: you carry editorial responsibility for everything published under your masthead, including what your reporters file. Set your own rule, tell your team what it is, and brief them properly before you hand over a login. See Section 8, Compliance, Legal and Responsibility.
You can add utility sections that pull readers back daily, such as gold and silver rates, weather, government jobs and results. Fully custom sections built for your area are available on the higher plans. Your account manager will confirm what is enabled on your plan.
Yes. AI is built into the platform and is a core part of what makes a one person newsroom viable.
No. MOJO Network allows content enhancement, not content generation. The reporting, the facts and the story are yours. AI helps you clean up language, structure the copy, write headlines, summarise, tag and optimise. It does not manufacture news.
Because credibility and search visibility both depend on it. Fabricated content destroys the trust that a hyperlocal brand is built on, and search engines demote sites that publish mass produced filler. Enhancement gives you the speed of AI without either risk.
No. Enhanced news is not banned by search engines as long as it is original in nature and adds real value for the reader. Search engines penalise unoriginal, spun or purely machine generated content, which is exactly what MOJO Network's enhancement only policy prevents.

The features available to you depend on your plan, and in practice they save you hours every day:

  • Turns a voice note or a rough draft into clean, publishable copy
  • Suggests headlines and summaries that perform better
  • Applies SEO and AEO structure, tags and categories to every story automatically
  • Assists with translation and local language output
  • Assists in assembling daily and weekly bulletins from your published stories
  • Advanced AI features are available from the Advance Plan onwards What AI does not do is write the news. The reporting, the facts and the sources stay yours.
Yes. Articles published on your news portal can be pushed directly to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms, so one upload becomes presence across every channel your audience uses.
Yes. You can share your articles to WhatsApp directly from the portal. For most hyperlocal portals WhatsApp is the single largest traffic source, so this is built in rather than bolted on.
Yes, a reader app for your news portal is available under the Custom Plan. Speak to your account manager for scope, timelines and commercials.
Yes, and both are included on every plan. Portals are built on a search ready structure and AI applies on page optimisation to every story, so you do not have to configure anything yourself. Standard Plan carries basic SEO and AEO. Advance Plan and above add the full treatment plus Google News and Discover onboarding, which is how a local portal gets into the news carousel rather than sitting on page four of ordinary results. SEO is search engine optimisation, which is how readers find you on Google. AEO is answer engine optimisation, which is how your reporting gets picked up and cited by AI assistants and answer engines. A growing share of news is now consumed as answers rather than as search links, and a local portal that is not structured for it becomes invisible. MOJO Network builds both in from the free tier because it costs you nothing and compounds over time.
Yes, and you should. Your existing WhatsApp groups, Facebook page and YouTube channel become distribution arms for the portal. Your account manager will help you plan the migration so you do not lose the audience you have already built.
No. MOJO Network does not pay you for news. MOJO Network is not a media house that buys copy, it is a platform that lets you own the masthead and keep the revenue your portal earns. You are the publisher, not a contributor.

Four routes, and most successful portals use all four:

  • Direct local advertising sold by you and published by you
  • Corporate and national advertising routed through MOJO Ad Manager
  • Programmatic advertising such as Google and Meta ads
  • Sponsored content and combined on-ground and digital campaigns for local businesses
MOJO Network, through Ad Manager, provides corporate advertising campaigns which news portal owners can opt in to. You are not required to accept every campaign. You choose the ones that suit your portal and audience.
Yes. On your own portal you can publish ads directly without paying any commission or charges to MOJO Network. Every rupee from an ad you sell to a local shop, hospital or coaching centre stays with you. If you want the same advertiser to run across other portals in the network, that is done through Ad Manager.
Because MOJO Network hosts thousands of news portals. An advertiser who wants to reach forty districts will not negotiate forty separate deals. They come to MOJO Network, and MOJO Network distributes the campaign across the network. Scale is the product. An individual portal simply cannot access those budgets on its own.
It depends on the slab rate. Rates vary with campaign size, category and duration, and are confirmed by your account manager at the time of the campaign.
Yes, you can run Google and Meta advertising on your platform. Your account manager will help you set this up, including the eligibility requirements these networks apply to news sites.
No. Network campaigns are opt in. You retain control over what appears on your masthead.
Campaign earnings are reconciled and settled by MOJO Network on the payout cycle set out in the Advertising and Monetisation Policy. Your account manager will confirm the cycle applicable to your portal.
Yes, and this is where the real money is. Most local advertisers want more than a banner. They want an on ground presence combined with digital coverage, for example a showroom launch covered as a story, promoted on WhatsApp and supported by branding at the venue. MOJO Network helps you run these combined on ground and digital campaigns from start to finish. They command far higher rates than display advertising alone, and usually no other outlet in your area is offering them.
No, and be cautious of anyone who does. Earnings depend on your traffic, your area, your consistency and your local selling effort. What MOJO Network guarantees is the platform, the advertiser network access and the support to make selling easier.
Google Analytics is connected to your portal at setup, so you do not have to configure anything. You see how many readers you had, where they came from, which stories performed and how your audience behaves. On top of that every plan carries reporter-wise performance analytics, so you can see which of your reporters is actually filing and which stories are earning their place. This is the data an advertiser asks for before releasing a budget, so learn to read it early. Your account manager will walk you through it.
Practical, tested tactics for building a local readership: what to publish and when, the right mix of categories, disciplined WhatsApp distribution, utility sections that bring readers back daily, and stories built from publicly available data such as government schemes, tenders and results, which generate outsized reach in a small area. The hyperlocal widgets do much of this work for you: mandi bhav, panchang, weather and fuel rates bring readers back every day without you filing a story. Your account manager works through the rest with you.
Support scales with your plan. Standard Plan is supported over email. Advance Plan gives you a shared account manager, Premium Plan gives you a dedicated account manager, and Custom Plan gives you a dedicated team. From Advance Plan upwards you are not filing tickets into a queue, you are speaking to a person who knows your portal. Every plan also includes the IT Rules 2021 compliance kit and team training, recorded on Standard Plan and live sessions from Advance Plan.

Everything between you and a working, earning portal:

  • Domain, SSL and server setup
  • Theme, layout and section configuration
  • Google and Meta ad setup
  • Analytics interpretation and growth advice
  • Monetisation guidance and campaign onboarding
Yes. Step by step video tutorials cover portal creation, posting news, uploading soft stories, uploading bulletins, connecting WhatsApp and using Pull News. They are available on the MOJO Network YouTube channel and are linked from the website.
Production capability you would otherwise have to build yourself. Instead of hiring editors and designers, your portal draws on MOJO Network's central studio resources for packaging and presentation.
Most of our publishers are reporters, not technologists, and the platform is built on that assumption. In practice you need one device you already own and already know how to use, which is your phone. On Standard Plan you work from the portal dashboard on a laptop, which is a form you fill in and a publish button. From Advance Plan onwards your reporters file from the MOJO Uploader App on their phones, roughly the way they would send something on WhatsApp. There is no coding, no server management, no hosting to buy and no design work. Everything technical sits with MOJO Network. Domain, SSL, servers, theme setup, Google and Meta ad configuration and analytics are handled by your account manager and the support team. When something breaks, you message a person who knows your portal rather than filing a ticket into a queue. There are also step by step video tutorials covering every routine task, and your account manager will take you through the first few uploads live if you want.
Yes. MOJO Network news portals are produced with all the necessary compliances in place, and the platform guides you on the registrations and approvals applicable to a digital news publisher. Your account manager will confirm the level of registration support available on your plan.

Yes. The platform is built to meet the obligations that apply to digital news publishers in India, including grievance redressal and content responsibility requirements. All six policies are published on the website and you can read them in full:

You are. You are the publisher of your portal, so the editorial and legal responsibility for your content rests with you, as set out in the Content Responsibility and Licensing Policy. MOJO Network provides the infrastructure, the compliance framework and guidance, but cannot take responsibility for the accuracy of a story it did not report.
Use only images you have shot, licensed or are otherwise entitled to use. Content taken through MOJO Network's authorised RSS feeds is cleared for use. Lifting stories or photographs from other publications is not permitted and exposes you to legal action. For detailed information, please refer to the Content Responsibility and Licensing Policy at mojonetwork.in/policy/content-responsibility-and-licensing-policy.
Through the Grievance Redressal Policy published on the website. Complaints are logged and routed, and your account manager will guide you on responding correctly and within time. Every plan includes the IT Rules 2021 compliance kit, which covers what a digital news publisher is required to display and maintain.
Yes, in cases of serious or repeated violation of the Terms and Conditions or Content Responsibility Policy, for example publishing unlawful, defamatory or communally inflammatory material. This protects every other publisher on the network as well as you.

Some things are not tiered, because they should not be: • Your own domain, and the portal is yours • Unlimited news publishing • Google AdSense setup support • The IT Rules 2021 compliance kit • Reporter-wise performance analytics • Digital press ID cards for every sub-reporter • Eligibility for corporate ad campaigns through Ad Manager • Zero commission on advertising you sell yourself
Our editorial desk writes articles for you on topics you choose, counted per subscription year: 5 articles up to 5,000 words on Standard Plan, 30 up to 45,000 words on Advance Plan, 100 up to 1,50,000 words on Premium Plan, and a custom allowance on Custom Plan. Standard turnaround is five working days from the day you send a complete brief. For time-sensitive pieces, a 48 hour turnaround is available on request, subject to desk capacity. Use the allowance for the pieces you never get around to writing yourself, such as scheme explainers, exam and result guides, and festival or civic features that keep pulling traffic long after they are published.
A digital replica of your portal published in newspaper page format, available from Advance Plan onwards for RNI Registered portals. In most districts the ePaper is what earns respect from readers and from advertisers who still think in terms of a printed page, and it is often the single feature that converts an advertiser used to buying newspaper space.
Beyond display advertising, the platform gives you products a local advertiser will actually pay for: • Shraddhanjali and greeting poster maker, 10 a month on Standard Plan, 100 on Advance Plan, unlimited on Premium Plan • Classifieds, obituary and tender sections, from Advance Plan • An ad booking and invoicing tool, so you stop running the business on WhatsApp and a diary • A local business directory, which is a recurring annual listing fee from every shop in your area • Reader subscriptions and a paywall, on Premium Plan • Election and result microsites, on Premium Plan, covering the highest-revenue weeks in any district
Start on Standard if you are proving the idea, and move up when one of these forces it: • Team size. Three sub-reporters stops being enough the moment you cover more than one block or tehsil. Advance Plan takes you to 30. • Mobile filing. On Standard your team publishes from a laptop or desktop. The moment your reporters need to file from the field on their phones, you need Advance Plan for the uploader app. • Revenue tools. Classifieds, obituaries, the ad booking tool and the business directory all sit on Advance Plan and usually pay for the upgrade several times over. • Migration. Free migration from an existing site is included from Advance Plan, so if you already run a website, start there. • Scale and audience ownership. Premium Plan adds your own branded Android app, reader subscriptions, election microsites and 200 reporters.
Yes, at any time. Plans are designed to be stepped up as your portal grows, and your account manager handles the change without disturbing your live portal, your domain or your published content.
No. Your annual plan fee covers the platform. Prices are exclusive of 18% GST, charged in addition. Ads you sell and publish yourself on your own portal carry no commission. Network campaign commercials follow the published slab structure and are confirmed in advance. The only extra with a published rate is additional storage at 5,000 per 100 GB per year. Anything else, such as a custom app, is quoted before you commit.
